Flying High

I had been eyeing the Golding RingSpindles after hearing so many good things about them on Ravelry and seeing the beautiful photos on their website. When my parents gave me some money to get myself a graduation gift, it didn't take me long to decide to get one of these spindles. And here it is!

The details:
Whorl: 2 1/2" walnut
Style: Vintage Ring Austrian Enamel
Shaft: walnut 5/16" x 8 3/4"
Weight: 1.4 oz

The customer service was outstanding. Tom was very quick to respond to my emails, and I received my customized spindle about a week after my initial inquiries.

There were a number of enamel rings I could have chosen from, but this one stood out since it is reminiscent of blue and white pottery, which I love. And I couldn't resist those little birds!

The maker of the enamel bangle is a bit of a mystery. Tom sent me a photo of the trademark, but I haven't been able to find anything more about it yet. Do you recognize it, by any chance? I'd love to know where the ring came from.

While I'm tempted to buy more fiber to go with my new spindle, I'll try to stick to the stash for now. After all, doesn't the spindle go nicely with the naturally dyed merino I have from Tactile Fiber Arts?

I think spinning this will be one of my projects for the Air element of Project Spectrum. While blue isn't part of the official color triad, spinning seems very airy, as do the birds on the spindle!

Beautiful, beautiful! I bet it spins like magic. I love the one I bought from him too. I just don't think you can make a better fiber investment. Congrats on graduating. (Found you over on Ravelry in the Golding posts)
